iPhone SDK and Enterprise Applications

iPhone ImageMarch 6th 2008 Apple announced the release of the Software Developer Kit and Enterprise applications for their popular iPhone. This announcement will push the iPhone years ahead of the competition.

1. The Exchange plugin; allows the iPhone to receive “push” email, contacts and calendars over the air - no more plugging the iPhone into a computer to synchronise, all data is safely stored on an Exchange or Zimbra server back at HQ.

2. The Software Developer Kit; allows developers to create “killer applications” for the iPhone. Early adopters of the SDK include www.salesforce.com, who empower Sales Executives and Sales Managers to monitor and control their leads whilst they are out on the road. Sales Force are taking advantage of the local database storage, which means there is no need for continuous communication with the main Sales Force server. As soon as the iPhone detects an Internet connection it synchronises, downloading new leads or pushing saved data back to the corporate account.

Intercell Solutions provide Zimbra and Microsoft Exchange server solutions to SME businesses. “The iPhone is going to enable our customers to collaborate effectively without the need for expensive proprietary software whilst on the road, this makes advanced features affordable for our SME customer base - this is a true Blackberry killer!”

We will post further information as we receive it - Apple have announced that the software update for the iPhone will be available in June 2008.
